Celebrate!

Celebration: a joyful word filled with energy and excitement!

Sometimes in life, celebration is also calm and simple.

What does this have to do with coaching?

Psalm 150 and Zephaniah 3:17 are good places to start!

Let everything praise the Lord, everything that has breath.

In all places, languages, in many ways, as created, praise the Lord! When God created in Genesis, he said, "It is good!" Time was taken to look at the goodness of creation. To bring celebration to a person's life is choosing to pause in thankfulness and to have a Kingdom focus of who and where God is. Praise comes through celebration in thanksgiving and worship.

Celebration and praise are also found in Zephaniah 3:17. As the Lord is with us, He is also with those we have the honor to coach. The Lord is in their midst, and in the midst of coaching sessions, this is a topic for a different conversation! As God is in the midst of coaching, as a Creator, He celebrates and rejoices over you with gladness. Loud singing - that sounds like a celebration to me!

He will exult over you with loud singing.

In GREAT joy, elation! What a gift to be seen in this way.

How does this connect to coaching? Celebration welcomes a change in atmosphere and tone, invites a shift in perspective and vocabulary! Even walking into a room or an environment of celebration can lift a person's spirit. I saw this change with a client when they heard deeper things being communicated that aligned with their goals and definitions of success. A second simple example is asking clients what they can celebrate. Some may struggle, yet most come up with surprising content!

This leaves us with the question of the role and possibilities of celebration within coaching. How could celebration encourage you personally, and the clients or environments you coach? Celebration helps move us beyond ourselves and toward gratitude to God and others. May this season of harvest and intentional presence encourage us to slow down and celebrate!

It is the season of gathering and celebration! Please join the community on December 16 from 4:00-5:30pm CET as we celebrate growth throughout the year, connect with one another, and reflect together!
